Residency
This is a Rent-free, work-trade, artist residency. Which means instead of paying rent, you’ll work to maintain the property, host art club, teach your own class and leave 1 large Installation at the loft.
You’ll work about 9-11 hours a week which leaves you plenty of time to work on your own projects.
You’ll also have opportunities to make a little extra cash by providing a tip jar(that you keep all proceeds), and you can also use the public events and classes to sell your work for 60% profit. The ‘loft will keep a standard 40% gallery fee.
What You’ll Do
Including general maintenance of the studio, Every Tuesday from 6-9pm you’ll host art club. A free event for the community to play art games, draw, go on texture walks and have a chance to live creatively for a few hours. You’ll collect sales for drinks, merchandise, and larger mediums people use.
This usually requires an hour set up and an hour for closing.
Teach your own medium through a class at the ShangriLoft twice a month. You’ll be responsible for planning the class, dates and times as well and getting the word out into the community. I’ll take care of the rest.
It’s recommended the class lasts at least 4 hours, not including set up and closing down but it’s all dependent on what medium you’re teaching.
In addition, you’ll also create one large indoor or outdoor installation or mural that you’ll leave at the loft for us to remember you by.
( no smaller than 3ftx3ft)
At the end of the 3 months, we’ll have an open gallery showcasing a selection of your best work (of at least 6 pieces and up to 12) for sale and silent auction. Proceeds will be split between the you, the artist and the ‘loft 60/40.
